A New Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer Calibration of Stellar Mass

چکیده
Abstract We derive new empirical scaling relations between Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) mid-IR (MIR) galaxy photometry and well-determined stellar masses from spectral energy distribution modeling of a suite optical–infrared provided by the Data Release 4 (DR4) Catalog GAMA-KiDS-VIKING survey southern G23 field. The MIR source extraction characterization are drawn WISE Extended Source Catalogue archival ALLWISE catalog, combining both resolved compact galaxies in sample to redshift 0.15. Three derived: W1 3.4 μ m luminosity versus mass, W1–W2, W1–W3 colors mass-to-light ratio ( M / L , sensitive variety types passive star-forming). For each sample, we then combined mass these relations, producing ⋆ estimates with better than ∼25%–30% accuracy for >10 9 ⊙ <40%–50% lower-luminosity dwarf galaxies. also provide simple prescriptions rest-frame corrections estimating using only flux W1–W2 color, making more accessible users data. Given or distance, will enable any sky detected high fidelity across range ratios.

Automated Classification of Periodic Variable Stars detected by the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer
We describe a methodology to classify periodic variable stars identified using photometric time-series measurements constructed from the Wide-field Infrared Survey Explorer (WISE) full-mission single-exposure Source Databases. This will assist in the future construction of a WISE Variable Source Database that assigns variables to specific science classes as constrained by the WISE observing cad...
متن کامل3 Science with a wide - field UV transient explorer
The time-variable electromagnetic sky has been well-explored at a wide range of wavelengths. Numerous high-energy space missions take advantage of the dark γ-ray and X-ray sky and utilize very wide field detectors to provide almost continuous monitoring of the entire celestial sphere. In visible light, new widefield ground-based surveys cover wide patches of sky with ever decreasing cadence, pr...
متن کاملLow-mass binaries in young stellar clusters: a deep near-infrared adaptive optics survey
{ Observations of diierent young clusters with ages ranging from 2 to 700 Myr have been performed with the adaptive optics system PUEO at CFHT to search for companions around low-mass stars (M < 1:5M). Over 350 stars were observed with the high angular resolution and sensitivity provided by PUEO, leading to the detection of 60 multiple systems, with separations down to 0: 00 08. The companion s...
